In today’s day and age, very few are aware just how successful biological warfare became in the quarrels between global superpowers. Very few know that in the Cold War, biological warfare became the favored warfare, and in 1938 Stalin declared it was the weapon to fight future wars. In fact, stealth bioterrorism was employed again and again by the Soviet Union against the West after the defeat of Nazi Germany. In my recent book, The Sleeper Agent: The Rise of Lyme Disease, Chronic Illness, and the Great Imitator Antigens of Biological Warfare, I walk the reader through the labyrinth of stealth biological weapons and their use in secret acts of sabotage. This was the most preferred way of attacking with biological weapons, through intelligence channels and embedded spies in the science and academic circles, working in the biodefense programs, who could carry out secret acts of sabotage against the West.
The reason biological warfare was preferred over any other warfare was because these are the only kinds of weapons that can be used and blamed on nature as a natural event and deny it was a deliberate act at all, while still having all the advantages of a directed attack. It brought with it plausible deniability. Aside from catching the saboteur in the act, the target nation would have a hard time proving definitively that the outbreak was an act of bioterrorism, or if it actually was a natural event. Either way, the damage gets done, with the attacking country able to freely deny it was an act of bioterrorism. The target country would be hesitant to retaliate if they could not prove the outbreak was an act of bioterrorism. You must know, that attacking a nation brings war if it is seen as a deliberate attack, but with these biological weapons, the ability to deny the attack is there, and in turn, without hard evidence of an attack, a country will be hesitant to retaliate.
Biological sabotage was the method of attacking enemy nations and it was used very effectively thanks to spies and saboteurs embedded in the target country. In my book, The Sleeper Agent: The Rise of Lyme Disease, Chronic Illness, and the Great Imitator Antigens of Biological Warfare, I detail the history of stealth biological weapons and the ongoing biological war between global superpowers. Using government documents and other legitimate sources of evidence, I show how major bioterror attacks were unleashed on the West just after World War II, and how the biodefense open-air simulant testing activities using bacteria thought harmless, were sprayed in the air over populated areas, as well as using insects, thought uninfected, were actually weaponized and served as secret acts of sabotage. This was an embarrassing blunder very few are even aware of, and the powers that be were hoping this would fade away into obscurity, but instead I hope to educate the reader and show how these activities are still going on today!
However, the more people educate themselves and the more people understand the mechanics of this war and how it secretly waged, the better chance of putting an end to it, because today, many attacks can be easily hidden under scientific and academic research activities, experimental testing, and so on. Foreign governments are invested in its use through spies posing as scientists, professors, and biodefense specialists, with the sole purpose of hurting innocent civilians in the targeted country.
In 2005, Ex-KGB Alexander Kouzminov wrote a memoir Biological Espionage: Special Operations of the Soviet and Russian Foreign Intelligence Services in the West, detailing out some of the operations of directed bioterrorism against the West, coined “Day X” and talked about just how many spies they had in the United States and Western countries.
